Safe alternative to acetone

When Steurs moved from Antwerp to Wijnegem, it was the perfect moment to start working in an even safer and more innovative way. To do this, they were looking for safe alternatives, for instance to acetone for degreasing and cleaning printing plates. A few days after their request, Eco-Point made an appointment to look for a solution together.

Economic solution

Some tests were done with solvents and Safeco, at that time still a brand-new product, was found to work very well for this. It soon became apparent that Safeco offered a very efficient and economical solution, the volume of Safeco needed to degrease a printing plate is much less than the volume of acetone needed for the same task.

Additional advantages

There are many other advantages that were decisive in choosing Safeco. Safeco does not require any hazard symbols, which means that no extra PPE, extraction or special storage are needed. Safeco does not have an aggressive or unpleasant odour, and Safeco is also not as volatile so there is less ‘loss’ of evaporated dangerous and flammable acetone.

Water-based ink removal

To remove water-based inks from plates and rollers, Steurs uses the product Flexeco Plus, a safe, biodegradable and water-dilutable product. With cleaning products from Eco-Point, they no longer use any hazardous or harmful products for cleaning and degreasing their printing plates. Employees can do their work in full safety, and our planet and the environment are also considered.
