What is Green deposit?

Green deposit is the collective name for all the algae that grows in places that are relatively shady and moist. Algae are green in color hence the term ‘green deposit’.
Where they become established, you will soon also find bacteria, yeasts, mould, dead algae and dirt. All together, this makes for a green deposit that is difficult to remove.

The autumn and winter months in particular have less sunlight and a lot of rain. The water is retained by the algae, making the problem worse. That means it is time to remove this growth with moss and algae removal products.

Where do Algae appear?

These small plants mostly tend to grow on objects made of porous stone. These include paths, pavements, patios, tiles, walls, garden fences, flagstones, gravestones and roof tiles. They can also adhere well to smoother materials such as glass, metal and marble. Finally, they thrive in humid places: recirculating coolant water systems and process water and places where foods and drinks are prepared, treated or stored.

Why is Green deposit a problem?

Green deposits cause slipperiness on pathways and terraces. This can result in slips and falls. We humans do not find the green deposit appealing, and we are eager to get rid of it!
